Neuromuscular Corrective Massage
After performing an in depth postural analysis and coming up with a plan of action the massage will include a combination of Neuromuscular Therapy, Myofascial massage, PNF, and PRE techniques to realign the body. These techniques are incredibly powerful in combating issues such as sciatica pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, thoracic outlet syndrome, whiplash, scoliosis, and chronic pain in any area of the body. It is also effective in correcting long standing postural or skeletal deviations that can place pressure on nerves causing long lasting pain and discomfort.
Neuromuscular therapy is a system of massage techniques that were developed in the 1930's by Dr. Stanley Lief in England. Neuromuscular therapy enhances the function of joints and muscles, and accelerates the overall healing process by facilitating the release of endorphins. It quickly and effectively relengthens muscle tissue by enacting the gogli tendon organ which measures muscle tension and the muscle spindles which measure length of the muscle tissue.
Myofascial massage differs from other types of massage in that it targets the fascia - the membrane surrounding muscles - rather than the muscle itself. Since fascia completely encases every muscle in the body, imbalances in the fascia can have serious effects on your range of motion and comfort level. While other forms of massage can overlook the fascia, myofascial massage focuses specifically on releasing tension in this important membrane.
